Very wierd corn stalk???????? i noticed contained by my backyard today there is a corn stalk...

i noticed contained by my backyard today there is a corn stalk growing by my wall it is about as high as the fence im sure its a cornstalk but the point is we never planted any corn??? we dont have a garden we used to but it never have corn in it how can a cornstalk merely appear out of nowhere????? and when is corn in season?

Answers:    My bet would be on squirrels - they bury nearly everything. It's also possible that birds dropped it. My bird feeder provided me near a great stalk of millet - sprouted up wild and I gone it. The cardinals love it. And anything will sprout if it's a healthy kernel and given the right conditions. (Plants will photosynthesize above 50 degrees F, so even though it's cool I've still get impatiens sprouting and blooming.)

Birds could have dropped the kernel there and it grew.
Depending on where on earth you live of I still have corn growing within Southern California it still warm satisfactory.
