Venus flaytrap? My flytrap is dying? I bought my flytrap two weeks ago. Its traps are turning black...
I bought my flytrap two weeks ago. Its traps are turning black now. I dont know what is wrong next to it. I used rain hose and bottle water for the plant. (The precipitation water hold been in that for a long time and is not very verbs...)I keep it lower than the sun for about 10 hours per hours of daylight. Please tell me what to do to squirrel away my plant. Can you give me some tips for growing venus flytrap?

Answers: I wouldn't worry too much just about it because the traps die after they have feed. As long as the entire plant has not turned black you should inaugurate to see replacement traps appear. VFTs love the sun so they are just fine where on earth they are. You can't over cook them in the sun, but they can dry out and specifically bad. The prime thing you inevitability to do is keep their soil moist at adjectives times. Here are some helpful hints and wonderful network sites that I share with everyone who own questions more or less carnivorous plants. Things you need to know to receive you started in the right direction. You can maintain VFTs outside in full sun or within a terrarium, but I recommend that you not keep them surrounded by thier origional container because their roots need room to grow and nearby is not enough nouns. Also, if you are going to keep them surrounded by a terrarium then construct sure you do not put the terrarium in direct sunlight. What like mad of people do not know is that carnivorous plants do best outside surrounded by the open nouns and in full sun. They are cold tolerant down to 20 degree and actually stipulation to be winterized and go into hibernation contained by order to do economically next season. If your temps drop below 20 next you can keep them within an unheated garage or garden shed. If you keep them contained by a terrarium then you can force them into hibernation or dormancy and I will furnish you the site that explains how to do this. As for watering, carnivorous plants are bog plants and their soil needs to stay moist adjectives the times. If you grow them in a terrarium this should not be a problem, however, if you grow them outside you will requirement to place them in a saucer of river and make sure you hold on to the saucer full at all times. No meat of any kind. Meat rots and it will waste them
No fertilizer of any kind. Pot carnivorous plants contained by a 50/50 mix of peat moss and perlite only.
No straight touch water. Use filter tap, aged stroke, distilled and rain (preferred)

My kids bought a venus flytrap, and the sale clerk told us to water the flytrap near tap hose, and leave surrounded by a nice shady, but sunny spot, and of course, where on earth there are lots of insects around, e.i. ants, flies etc.
