Trees or plants home-grown of Ireland? I would like to plant a tree of some sort of plant...

I would like to plant a tree of some sort of plant as a memorial to a friend that freshly past away. I hold a courtyard with a koi pond and some other plants around. I infer it would be a great way to remember him. I would similar to something apropriate to be used as a memorial. He was from Ireland, so to be exact why I would like it to be from Ireland.
Any suggestions?

Oh, and something that will grow/survive adjectives year around.

Thank you!
Answers:    I think you are thaw enough to plant a shamrock. Do a search out on the Net for what type of soil you need and include that within your planting. You can make this grow contained by a mound shape approx 8 inches high.
It would sustain to know where you live, what climate you hold and what type of soil you have. Is it clay, caustic or nuetral etc.
