I have a Peace Lilly (Spathiphyllum) to be precise currently a bit sorry looking. The leaves are going brown & yellow around the edges & are getting a bit wilty.
It's not root bound, get watered every two days, is out of direct sunlight.
What can I do to cheer it up?
Over watering may be the problem. Watering on a rota is not optimum. Best to water when the soil feel dry to 1 inch deep. Test respectively time before you wet. And then when you wet do it thoroughly. The water should completely cover the soil.
It sounds close to you are watering it too much- esp in the wnter months. Too much wet and the leaves will trn yellow to brown.
Also is the dirt pulling away from the sides of the pot? IF so, afterwards the water is going to the sides of the pot and not getting to the root system.
Answers: Actually the peace lily is not a true "lily"- it is not a Lilium species. They are tropical plants and do not have a dormant interval. I agree about the lower leaves yellowing next to age. Also agree with the possibility of over-watering. Browning edges repeatedly idicates over or under-watering, as does wilting. I generally do not sea the peace lilies that often, even contained by a greenhouse, especially during the winter. Allow top 1-3 inches of soil to dry out between watering. Misting helps too.
