the spray paint grafiti without harm the petroglyphs? the petroglyphs are the type where they be "tapped" into the rock, the rocks have a see-through coating of black oxidised rock and under it is lighter ,thats how they made the petroglyphs, so sharp scrubbing beside a wire brush would ruin them and i contemplate chemicals might react scantily as well, any environmentally secure ways to get the paint rotten? these petroglyphs are over 900 years old it would be a shame to basically lose them. is it maybe lately better to leave the spraypaint at hand? it will eventually (in a hundred years or so)wear off on its own but that might be better surrounded by the long run for the petroglyphs. what do i do?
Answers: Who do these boulders belong to? You need to discuss to the owners--whether private or the city or county or state or feds before taking things into your own hand. And get experts to touch the restoration if required. Your job may be to simply obtain the owners of the rocks to take management
I would consult the National Forest Service or the Anthropology/Archeology Department of your nearest university for guidance.
