I have a tomato vine in my backyard and we enjoy some tomato's on them. Well, I have noticed that something bug or something have been starting to eat the tomato's. Some of them are ripe and others are not. I've to pick them stale the vine and get rid of them. What can I use to stop the bug (or bugs) from eating them. If at hand is something without chemicals that would be better. Serious Answers only please.
I gallon of dampen with one teaspoon of dish soap and some garlics. Alternatively, mix cayenne with thaw water and let it sit for a hours of darkness then use a strainer. Add more water to the concoction. Spray on the tomatoes. Bugs usually dislike hot and spicy ordour and also the smell of soap next to garlic put them off.
If the tomatoes are on or near the ground later they are probably being eaten by slugs. Make sure your vines are kept rotten the ground with stakes or tomato cages.
If they enjoy round holes in them, it is probably caterpillars that are eating them Check the underside of the leaves to see if you hold a tomato hornworm. Just pick it off and kill it.
If they enjoy little tears and cuts, then it is probably birds that are desperate for water. Put out a birdbath of marine or some other source for the birds. They don't much like tomatoes but they will eat them if they must.
You don't entail to throw away a tomato just because it has a hole surrounded by it. Cut out the affect part and enjoy the rest.
