when I realized I have a mortar hoe instead of a standard garden hoe...can I still do the gardening with that hoe?...it have a big hole in the middle. I consider it's meant for cement or something.

But holes are fine. It's the adjectives edge of the hoe that's esteemed. A mortar hoe will do the job on weed in a garden situation.
