I have profusely of bare spots surrounded by my lawn from not watering it properly over the summer. What should I do my soil back the fall seed. I have already put down some winter fertilizer. Now I am thinking to aerate it or dethatch it. What do you reason? Thanks!

Answers:    aerate in the decline.... weed seeds won't germinate over winter (in my nouns anyways), the cores break up during winter, and if you are overseeding, the seed have soil contact, which it needs to germinate

dethatch contained by spring... it will lift adjectives the old unresponsive grass to help the grass 'breathe'

A lot of tools are made to do both at the same time. I do both to my pasture. (I dethatch at least 2 times per mowing season. I aerate contained by spring, right before seed.)
