"Needle Like" Grass/Weeds growing contained by St. Augustine? I live in North Houston, TX and I own a small patch...

I live in North Houston, TX and I own a small patch (3' x 3') of St. Augustine Grass that is slowly one taken over by some sort of weed that looks like green pine needles sticking out of the ground. They don't grow extraordinarily tall, roughly 3-4" taller than the St. Augustine but it grows totally fast. I pick what I can and within two days, it has returned.

It is starting to spread so I want to stop it beforehand it becomes more of a problem.

Anyone know what I'm dealing next to and how to go in the region of getting rid of it?
Answers:    it sounds like nut grass and it will hijack your yard.they trade name a spray called "image" i imagine otherwise you gotta dig up respectively stalk w/bulb, the runners go in the region of 1 inch apart don't let it progress to seed. virtuous luck
