I moved in this house that have completely naked courtyard. I just bought hydrangeas and rose bushes for front, but be just told that neither will do economically where I want to plant them. The nouns has merely about 1-2 hours direct sunlight (early morning sun) afterwards shaded by house rest of day. If I can't plant roses or hydrangeas in that, what can I plant that will preferably have some blooms? If I can't plant my roses and hydrangeas near, I do have another place I would similar to to plant them, mostly full sun, but it is along a fence row where on earth cows are kept and I don't know if the cattle would try to eat these plants and if they or poisonous to them. As you can describe, I am novice to landscape, but willing to spring in beside both feet!

Hosta, Impatiens, Bleeding Heart, and Azaleas all do all right in shade.
