Can anyone tell me what might be wrong, if anything next to some of these Canadian Hemlocks that I planted as a hedge finishing April.

I have taken several pictures which you can see by clicking on the links beneath.

they hold been watered regularly later year, but we did have an extremely dry and hot season ultimate year. and they again are 1 year old.

Anything you might suggest to product them fill out better or is near something that needs to be changed contained by the soil perhaps. I ammended the soil near topsoil and peat moss with the clay when I planted them , as capably as dug the hold twice the width of the root globe. and the foliage seems okay, but as you can see inside they are unclothed. not very dense. so be wondering if this was typical or not.
Answers:    If you trim the tips, as long as you dont cut back as far as the harder brown wood it should thicken them on the outside. Unfortunately most conifers do tend to travel brown in the middle.
It may be something to do next to where your living, if you live surrounded by a hotter climate it will not do well, this species is local to canada and minnesota and is found primarily over 2000' in moutain ranges, where on earth it is usually colder. Also, I've heard they tend to thrive better within rocky soils.
