We have recently planted numerous (5) different clematis. One of them have a brillient green swirl of stems where each spent flower have been. Do we prune these off, or do check out of them alone?
Answers:    As Stuart said, leave them alone. Train the vines to go where on earth you want only during the summer. In the fall after the leaves drip off don't touch the vines. They will become brittle and appear to be dead. In the spring they slowly come wager on to life. The ends of the vines will take the longest to bring leaves back and stay brittle until this happens.
Leave them alone. They will verbs to grow, and climb your trellis all summer.
