Hi,
My husband and I just bought a home near a couple mature (50+ years old) grapevines. Neither of us are green thumbs by any weigh.
Can anybody tell us contained by layman's terms when and how to prune them?
Oh, and we don't know the array. However, they are red, seeded and terrifically very sweet!
Thanks!

Answers: Sounds approaching maybe a Clinton array. In the spring before they palm leaf out, you can cut them back and tie them to the trellis or rope supporting them. If this hasn't been done just now, you will end up next to a lot of cut vine. New vines will grow and steep in unseal spaces. We ususally use willow to tie them up, but any twine or string will work. Don't worry around cutting too much, freshly leave the largest thicker vines and you should be fine.
