Protecting a lemon tree? I planted a eureka lemon tree in my backyard about a month...

I planted a eureka lemon tree in my backyard about a month ago. Unfortunately, squirrels and lizards enjoy been messing with the tree. It be bad enough that they ate adjectives of the bulbs that were going to turn into lemons, but now they're still going after the tree. They're trying to rip oodles leaves and branches off. Is there any non-toxic product that I could buy to hold them away from the tree? Ironically, they're leaving the orange tree alone.
Answers:    Mix up a hot pepper and garlic spray and spray on it once weekly..they detest it..They bite into a will or the bark once..and they are gone..

However you can make your own
Try putting a circle of line mesh around the tree, supported by wooden stakes or bamboo sticks. Quarter inch hardware cloth should work. Make sure the wire is snug against the ground. I enjoy worked with citrus most of my life (in Florida) and hold not seen squirrels or lizards do any significant damage to trees, but I enjoy seen rats or mice damage them. If you hold rats around (they work at night), the wire or a rat trap should solve the problem. Good luck. you can get any species of anti bug spray and protector
they're everywhere.
