Proper soil for potted plants? I'm going to try my hand at planting this spring, but I...

I'm going to try my hand at planting this spring, but I live within an apartment, so all of it must be done through a pot.

I be wondering if any of you had any tips on what sort of soil to use for best results. Peat moss, top soil? As you can detail, I have completely no idea what I'm doing. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Agree beside Steph. MiracleGro plus vermiculite and peat moss, 2:1:1 ratio. Lowe's has vermiculite and peat usually adjectives the time. Don't forget to try sprouting cuttings in clear containers of sea. If in doubt, plunk it contained by water. Remove lower leaves so they don't rot and stink the place up.

enjoy fun playing in the dirt.
What Stephanie said...though read the package - most Miracle Grow potting soils enjoy 3 months' fertilizer IN the soil. So...do NOT fertilize your plants until you're into the fourth month, or you risk buring them with too much fertilizer. Just sea alone for the first three months.

If you get potting soil minus fertilizer in it, you can use any common fertilizer - follow directions on the label.
Answers:    Hi! The best choice for an indoor potted plant would be a correct potting soil like Miracle Grow and bring in sure it has vermiculite and/or perlite. They are usually the little white things within the potting soil and they help hold surrounded by moisture so the soil doesn't dry out too soon. The biggest thing, though, is to net sure you follow the directions for your plant and make sure it get the proper amount of sunlight and water. Many plants, especially tropicals, necessitate to be kept moist, but not wet, and cannot be allowed to dry out between waterings. But pay for to the potting soil, I think Miracle Grow is best. Good luck beside your green thumb!!
Miracle-Gro is our choice too. You can buy a rucksack of "potting soil" which is made especially for pots, window boxes, and hulking containers. We usually buy the one with plant food already within it. Miracle-Gro also has a backpack of potting soil that has wet crystals in it. These crystals hold hose down so that the pot does not dry out too fast and you will not hold to water it too normally. Drying out is the main contract killer of potted plants.

We mix in slow release fertilizer.....Osmocote.....hose down in all right and then plant our flowers. We also use a soft fertilizer every 7 to 14 days after the plants are established. Be sure to read the directions on both containers.

Before you do anything, make sure your porch can hold the weight of a drizzly pot of soil.

Flowers need from 4 to 6 hours of sunshine. There are shade flowers too, be sure to check next to your local gardening center for these types of flowers.
