PLEASE HELP! I am trying to grow catnip, beside greatly little nouns. I don't know what is the right style to do it I started mine from seeds. Some have grown within big clusters, some...

I started mine from seeds. Some have grown within big clusters, some little shoots all by themselves. I read to pinch back second set of leaves for more shoots. I tried, but so far not much luck. Most of my babies are turning brown, Can anyone report me why? And can anyone PLEASE "walk" me thru the process of having sturdy plants that my cat will love... Any help will be much appreciated. I save hearing how "EASY" it is to grow, I guess my thumbs have turned brown. Thanks to adjectives who can guide me thru this. JANETP
Answers:    Catnip likes full sun, a nice, deep, moist, fertile soil, and to be departed alone by cats. Transplants are often dug up by the fur-faces, but seed planted where on earth the plants are to grow is often left alone as long as you don't mess beside it (bruising it releases those wonderful catnip aromas and brings half the moggies in the neighborhood over to roll contained by it.)

http://www.wbryant.com/StellaCat/catnip/... is a pretty good introduction. Personally, I wouldn't pinch them at the second pair of true leaves stage -- I'd lurk for three or four before removing the apical meristem.

I can't guess what's causing the browning minus seeing the plants, sorry.
Well, I've never started from seed. I have bought from a nursery and it comes up every year. You could also buy catmint; I own about 5 'walkers low' species. Cats are attracted to this even though it is not as highly aromatic at the catnip. This particular catmint is a very pretty shrub, purple flowers from very soon until late summer (Michigan) dies to the ground each winter and returns contained by the spring without fail. I imagine yours might be dying beacuse roots aren't established well. Good luck Where did you plant it at? If you did outside make sure it get full sun in the morning and shade by after noon, also if they are out side and its dry contained by your area, then you may requirement give it extra water, Brown leaves can be over watering or too much time between watering the plant.
