Answers:    Hi:
Uk is similar to climate zones seven and eight surrounded by the United States. There are shade evergreen shrubs you could plant. Here are a couple of suggestions:

Pieris Japonica
Some Hollies will take shade
Camellias
Hostas
Mahonia
Hydrangea

I will interconnect you to the gallery of plants section and the multiplicity of more plants section of my website. These two page have photos and descriptions that you may know how to get some design from. I hope this helps some and flawless luck to you. Have a great day and evening.

Check out BBC Gardening site. They hold a plant finder, put in the details of the growing environment plus altitude etc of shrubs and it will give you a record and all the plant details. English Box and Euonymus will wear low neutral conditions.
