Planting iris?

It all depends on the type of iris.
Bearded iris want dry soil, verbs a shallow trench and heap a small mound contained by the center, place the rhizome (thick part of base) on the mound and the roots on the sides. Bury the roots and depart from the top of the rhizome out of the ground.
Siberian, Louisianna, Japanese, and flag iris like wetter places, so the edges of ponds, within low spots, and ditches work well for them. They can also survive contained by dry areas if watered well.
