My Gerber Daisy plant is planted in a philosophical planter but above ground. In the NW, it's getting cold at night, and it still have flowers, and new flowers coming within. Is there anything special I want to do to protect the plant during autumn/winter months?

I have some in the ground for three years, but this ancient winter killed them adjectives. I guess it depends on how bitter it gets. My cannas and Callie plant go too, after being only just fine for several years. Friends told me that they are annuals and I was basically lucky to keep them that long. I'd put the planters surrounded by the basement or somewhere they won't freeze.
