Need sustain near my Dublin Bay climbing roses? I want it to grow taller,it's too short, and hold more blooms? I bought it from a local corner store, there are no plant...

I bought it from a local corner store, there are no plant nurseries close to where I live and the store clerk in recent times said to give it plant food. I am more used to growing bean plants then flowers and the sticker says to provide full sun, don't over water and make available it raw farm compost. I live surrounded by a small city far from any farms. My other rose plant died so I want to keep this one. Thank you and sorry this is so long.

you'll see that your rose is more of a 'pillar' rose than a climber... benevolent of a tall shrub rose. so nothing you do will produce it grow taller than that.. it will bloom more after it's had time to settle in. along something like it's third year. and full sun, at least six to eight hours is a MUST for good blooming. as for the compost. fertilizer is fine. as long as it have a larger second number...like 5-10-5... that's 'bloom food'.. and yes, roses don't like to be over-watered.. they telephone it 'wet feet'. they will get very cranky if the soil doesn't drain economically..if you're looking for a rose to go up over an arbor or something you might want to get another taller one and move this one where on earth it can just be pretty.. it IS one of the best reds!.
