What can i do to restore its former glory??
Answers: Sounds like you have need of to get better drainage surrounded by there for the muddy bits (unless it be caused by footballing children perchance?)
The yellowing could be die back (where stuff have been gone on the lawn over winter purpose the grass below had no access to light) or it could be due to a womanly dog peeing on it!
Aerate the lawn - ideally use a hollow tined device (you can get hold of them at the garden centre) or get a long pronged fork, drive it into the ground at a slight angle & waggle it then repeal - repeat about every 12-15 inches (good for the waistline - impossible for the back!)
procure some lawn weed & nurture & mix it in beside sharp sand (it often give quantities on the packet - spread this mixture over the sward and then brush within with a moral stiff broom (to fill the holes.
If it doesn't rainfall within in the region of 4-5 days water it (but if you're surrounded by the UK there's little chance of that!) - after sit down & wait!
Good luck!
economically, first u have to slaughter the weeds or to verbs them out. then u enjoy to fertilize your lawn and cut it regularly. if u hold muddy areas with zilch growing - mix soil with sand and plant seed which re ment for patching. puncturing the soil on your lawn help to ventilate the soil
