I have a gorgeou orchid, it is a Phalaenopsis orchid. I watered it like they told me and it be doing great. It got a few new blossoms and everything. However, it slowly begin to loose them and now they are all gone. Will they ever grow hindmost? Is this the growing patter of them or is it dead?
Answers: Phalaenopsis orchids are truly one of the easiest care orchids out there. I don't know where on earth you bought it or how they told you to care for it, but I have orchids and will relate you what I know
First, flower drop might mean a couple things. It could be that it is just done flowering. If so, trim the flower stalk to newly above a node (the swollen part on the stem) on the flower stalk. This usually encourages more flower stems to grow out of that existing stalk.
Another use for flower drop, is that it dried out too much between waterings. When you water your orchid, make sure you put into a vessel of water up to the rim of the pot it is in and soak it for 10 to 15 minutes. Let it drain thoroughly. The growing atmosphere should be damp and cool to the touch. If it isn't, it is time to water. During live growing period, fertilize with a giant nitrogen fertilizer or buy a special orchid fertilizer (which can be found in your local garden center). Do not fertilize when in bloom.
How is the overall appearance of the plant? Do the leaves look nourishing and green. Look at the roots. They should be nice and robust and either green or white in color.
Hope this help and good luck!
Phal blossoms last a long time, but not forever. It's commonplace for them to drop. You can cut the stem back a little and see if it will blossom again (it may not) or basically cut it all the way down. Keep it watered and within filtered light (not direct sunlight) and it will blossom magnificently for you next year, and for years to come! This is normal. The plant will immediately begin making a new set of leaves and roots.
This is a fitting time to repot the orchid.
By the end of the year a new flower spike should develop which will nick several months to grow and produce bloom.
