i have a tree in my stern yard that my fathers grandfather planted. it wasnear some phone lines and have to be cut down a little but it was cut intensely badly and now is late on 1 side and is bleeding im worryed what can i do?

It sounds as though you have a real problem near this tree, since in most cases top dieback, even if it's confined to just one side, is an indication the tree have suffered major damage of some type.
