This is my second year to plant a garden and my first time to try sweet corn. I planted my corn back within April, and it's already put on ears. The problem is that the stalks still only breadth between two to four feet soaring, the ears are very small and the silk have already turned from pink to brown.
Am I just going to hold to settle for small ears this year? If so does it sound similar to I under watered/didn't endow with it enough light/nutrients?
Thanks for any guidance.
Answers: You underwatered. The bad word, there is nil you can do after the fact. The apposite news, you hold time to plant a 2nd crop and water properly this time. Of course, you may own soil problems or diseases or pests working against you as well, but the usual basis of stunted growth is lack of wet.
Which corn variety did you plant? It seem strange that the only symptoms of below watering or lack of fertilizer would be a short plant. There is different dwarf corn that is planted for wildlife that grows roughly three feet soaring and the ears ripen about six inches sour the ground.
