I recently get into growing African Violets. I am 17 years old and give attention to I am doing everything right. I tried reading how to care for them and it doesnt appear to help me. Two months ago I bought an African Violet from Walmart, and it hasn't bloomed nonetheless. I replanted and have be fertilizing it frequently. It has plenty of sunlight, and the leaves are growing completely nicely and green. All it hasn't done since I get is bloom. Could I be fertilizing it too much? It also has have babies grow on the side of the "mother plant" and I have replanted those. They are doing thoroughly nicely too but again they aren't producing blooms any.
Answers: Trust me one this one, Put it under some fluorescent lights for just about 14 hours a day buy a fluorescent bulb that costs low surrounded by energy costs and put it within a tray of water and pebles so that it get alot of moisture africain violets need alot of humudity to bloom and alot of oil lamp. Mine for the longest time wasn't blooming and one day i read contained by a book that africain violets can bloom succesfully by 1 humidity, 2 extra sunlight. Remenber to always do this and you will hold a magnificent blooming africain mauve.
Instead of sunlight, substitute fluorescence light. Also, merely water them by putting hose in a shallow dish, afterwards setting the pot in the dish. The leaves despise to get damp.
