thinking of buying some solid marble statues for my garden and just wondered how they concordat with the elements? do i necessitate to seal the stone or purely leave it? any relieve appreciated before i fork out!!
Answers:    See if the salesperson has a sealant for them - so they can replace them if it does not work. LOL
Seriously, marble is exceedingly poruous, especially the grades used for carved statuary. It will stain, and acid contained by the rain and contained by bird droppings will erode it over time - so if you do not like the weathered look, you will have need of a stone sealant approved for use on marble and that may impact the appearance or the color over time.
We have have a couple of marble statues outside until a bad storm come one day and broke one of them to pieces (cost a fortune to repair), anyway if you can buy something really big, it will be alright, but if not, walk with concrete :) And you do want a professional that works next to marble to seal and upkeep it for you. . . GL!
