I have a maple tree within my front yard, beside the Large leaves. It is very in shape and produces a lot of leaves, although, contained by the Fall, it never changes color. the leaves stay green and drip Green. Why is this?? I would like it to loose change color. I live in chicago burbs. Are within some maples that never change color?? Thanks
Great first answer, a short time ago to add, usually a tricky frost is needed for optimum color change. near global warm? and all I wonder if the need of early, and tricky frosts is contributing to this. I live near buffalo and we in recent times had our first (mild) frost by a hair`s breadth enough to formulate the colors pop
Tree leaves money color due to the weather. It could be that the tree is protected (by other trees, proximity to buildings, etc.) from the temps dropping, so it doesn't have the trigger to adjustment colors.
Having lived in Chicago for 15+ years I can vote that one of the reasons it seem like Fall never happen is the Lake - the weather changes so efficient and the winds thrash up and blow all the leaves bad. Fall lasts approximately 15 minutes surrounded by Chicago. If you're concerned about the form of the tree have an arborist check it out.
Answers: More than plausible your maple is a Norway maple. My neighbor¡¯s Norway has done exactly duplicate thing this year surrounded by the Chicago burbs. In fact, this have been a adjectives occurrence for her maple. Norway maples do not typically attain the brilliant colors that other maple trees do. Also, Norway maples are not native to the Chicago nouns. Our climate stresses these trees. They do not grow to their full potential nor do they reliably produce fall color contained by our climate. Finally, fall color is a result of moisture level throughout the growing season and fall temperature. Fall has be rather dry within Chicago compared to our summer. This dry fall have reduced the color we are seeing in the Chicago nouns. Also, we had a significant frost within the burbs this last weekend (28 degrees) that have triggered the rapid dive of Norway maple leaves on your tree. The best color is attained when the fall daytime temps are thaw & nights are cool. This October have been the warmest on register in Chicago and have not produced the temps necessary to create the best plunge coloration. Wind has have nothing to do next to your lack of dribble coloration nor is the prevailing winds rotten the lake within the burbs. If you want reliable & brilliant fall coloration, consider an Autumn Blaze, Sugar, or Red maple.
