I want some of my father-in-law's Jordanian Mint Plants, and he lives in Wisconsin, I live within Tennessee, is there anyway to post live plants 1000 miles so that they will live to be replanted here??
Answers: Yes you can.
Wrap each root orb in moist newspaper. Don't take home the paper too showery or it will rot the root ball. Then wrap the root globe in a plastic shoulder bag. If the plants are small, you can fit quite a few contained by the bag.
Place surrounded by a box that will not crush when shipping and place paper around the plants to hold them during transit. If you are shipping presently, you can send via regular messages. If you are shipping in a space heater season, best to send 2 light of day.
When the plants arrive, open the box straight away. Plant your plants up. If it's very hot, I would plant within a pot before planting into the ground and agree to the plants acclimate better. If they are going in full sun after such a long trek, they could burn. If it's cool or mild weather, you should be fine planting right into the ground.
Best of luck! :)
There are companies who mail plants adjectives the time. Whether you want to pay to enjoy it flown bare-root (no soil or growing media) or shipped in a truck is up to you. Since things are shipped by consignment, bare-root is the best way to turn as far as price. I would go to your local post organization and discuss with them the option you have available to you.
