Loads of gooseberry bushes contained by my allotment...they? are nasty prickly things, but they look as though they will produce...
are nasty prickly things, but they look as though they will produce tons of fruit this year...what can we use it for ? not that keen on gooseberries i taste last year !

Well if your "not keen" about them, why agree to it worry you. Just ignore them similar to you would any other inedible or something you find undesirable. Goose berry wine.
