Lazy Tomato plant?!? I live in England and have a tomato plant. I preserve it...
I live in England and have a tomato plant. I preserve it in doors as advised by the garden meat. It has plenty of sunlight and gets watered when needed. It's growing exceptionally tall with lots of leaves but no flowers and noticeably no tomato's. I thought it should have flowered by now? Should it own? Also I noticed a few days ago that some of the leaves have white patch on them. What is this?
If it doesn't fruit this yr is it possible to keep it for next yr?
Thank you!
have you been adjectives out all the side shoots? otherwise the plant tends to grow more leaves than fruit
Pinch out the growing tips. Mix about an ounce of creme of tartar and 3 Tablespoons of Epsom brackish in a blender with thaw out water. Pour this in the pot 1 week after pinching out the growth tips. You can keep hold of the tomato growing year around, but I would recommend a 2-tube fluorescent fixture hung above the plant and kept at 6 inches high. Use one warm white and 1 cool white tube within the fixture. Warm white is the red end of the spectrum for flowers and cool white is the blue end for latest growth. Put it outside 1 hour each day to go hard it off. I had mine growing inside and they didn't really do anything. I slowly hardened them bad outside and they have taken off resembling crazy, I just got flowers a week ago. Also fertilize it once a week.
Answers: Hi
It have been a slow year for tomatoes - not enough sun.
HOwever, I would suggest that you FEED your plant (tomorite is excellent). Make sure it have enough good part compost.
NOw - the marks. Sounds like tomato blight. Don't frenzy, pinch out all the effected leaves. Also, pinch out the bottom leaves of the plant - you involve the tops to photosynthesise, but the bottom leaves are taking nutrients from potential fruit.
It is a bit late for it not to be flowering - but you don't say when you bought it - it could be behind schedule.
Strip affected leaves, take out any 'unneeded' foliage, tender as much sun as possible. FEED!!
Best of luck. Rubbish summer weather has given me no potatoes yet any.

Put it on the veranda.and let it toughen up a bit..If you just lay around surrounded by doors all the time..what ya think you might look resembling..Actually it needs the same things you do...food dampen light love...little outdoors.have fun in need flowers, you won't get tomatoes. ease up on the watering and put it outside -it requirements bees for pollination.
Harden it sour gently.by putting in a sheltered spot at first, and when it looks tougher, out surrounded by full sun. It might to be too late to safe it tho, it sounds to me as though it have grown straggly thro being indoors. You cannot grow tomatoes indoors and out of the sun. They involve light and sun. It certainly wont fruit subsequent year. It will be dead! Yes it should have flowered. Are you sure they haven't be nipped out! ? You could give it a boost beside 'Tomorite' but it might be a bit late now.
