My husband installed our lighting and ever since it will shut off after a while. Then about 5 minutes go by and it will turn back on. I'm handier than my husband and would like to fix the problem, but he threw away the casing. BTW-The timer is set correctly.
YOU PROBALLY HAVE A BAD TRANSFORMER CHECK THE LIGHTS BY DISABLEING THE TIMER IF THE STILL DO IT THEN THE TRANSFORMER IS BAD ALSO CHECK THE TRANSFORMER IF IT HAS A PHOTOCELL IF IT DOES THEN IT MAY BE IN A PATH OF LIGHT SAY WHEN A CAR PASSING BY OR STREET LIGHT MAY ALSO EFFECT IT
I haven't a clue as to what the problem is or how to solve it*
I can however offer a suggestion..If you know the brand first name or name of the company try to find in online and usually they enjoy a contact us/email address. If you can't remember
the name go spinal column to the store and look for the one you purchased there might be a 800 number on the package or a URL..
I find it's much safer to remove such information from the husband for past the worst keeping make copies for him for installation and you keep the untested. LoL!
Answers: The transformer is overheating. Most of the transformers have a safety switch that turns them past its sell-by date if they get hot.
A few common cause:
1) too much wattage/too many lights for the transformer. If everything came within one kit, this is probably not the problem. Otherwise, you need to find a copy of the instructions online and see what your transformer can button.
2) Wire is to small for the length of the run. Again not a likely problem if this is one apparatus. Check the instructions for this one as well.
3) A short in the system somewhere. If the cable connects to the transformer with screw terminals, be paid sure that there aren't any stray wires touching both terminals. Check for impossible connections along the run. If one of the connections was put on, then taken stale and repositioned you can get a short in the inventive location sometimes.
4) A bad fixture. If all else fail, try removing one at a time and see if the problem goes away.
