Jiffy peat pellet.......transplanting? When is the best time to "trim" the plants and start transplanting...
When is the best time to "trim" the plants and start transplanting them? all but a few own pop thru and have exceeded the hight of the tray. should i trim them next transplant them?? or should i just transplant them?
Answers: I own started many seed this way.
When partly the seeds own sprouted remove the dome and place in cool, sunny spot or 6" below a fluorescent lantern. (I use the light)
When the first true leaf appears, snip out the 2 smallest seedings from respectively pellet.
Begin feeding next to an all-purpose fertilizer. (I use the Miracle-Gro plant food spikes)
Plant each pellet directly into the garden when adjectives danger of frost is departed. Or plant each pellet directly into pot, if indoor plant.
It's category of late within the year to be transplanting - what kind of plants are they & where on earth are you located? If in a heat up climate, just transplant them as is and permit them get accustomed to their fresh surroundings, the sooner the better. The longer plants are in those trays, the more they are shocked by the outdoors when they are transplanted. Trimming them first might put them within more shock than transplanting alone, so I wouldn't do that until they are well established -again, depending on what nice of plant.
