I bought a Japanese Maple at Costco a week and a half ago. I brought it home and planted it quickly. SInce planting it has turned bright wan (it was a dull washed out to begin with) and the leaves hold fallen rotten. I see some new red leaves, but solitary a few.
FYI-I've watered it daily and it is planted surrounded by an area that get both sun and shade.
Answers: Hi Casey,
What i read from magazine is that--when plants turns into yellow or red when autumn approaches is that near is a shortage supply of sugar nutrients from the soil and minerals(your maple came from a different open-handed of soil, i.e garden soil which is rich in nutrients made for them to look saleable)when you planted it surrounded by a different soil it lacks the nutrients that it needs to make a contribution vibrant color or its autumny color, sunshine and weather condition are also contributory to this changes. Maple are deciduous(leaves fall) which is the affect of this part from mother nature. You conceivably a nature lover. We are from the Philippines but we've grown 10 pots of acer saccharum(sugar maple) given by our friend within Wyoming and Toronto and they are now 10 inches illustrious.

It does sound as though it is within shock it is tough to kill a tree within such a short period of time. They tend to die slow scratchy deaths. How big be the hole you planted it in? You call for to make sure you planted it surrounded by a hole twice as deep and twice as big around as the root bubble on the tree. The hole should also be refilled beside either tree and shrub soil or enrich with peat moss. If you pack it back within with a moment ago dirt especially in most unmarked housing developments( the dirt is very poor power or too clay filled) you can smother your roots. You also should drive some time released tree spikes into the ground just outside of the hole you planted it surrounded by. Watch the water even too. You want it to drink not drown. Unless you are in a amazingly arid climate every other day is plenty, and wet underground with a root feed water verbs. Hope this helps.
