I remember when I was little, my mother took willow branches and stuck them contained by the ground with no prep but to trim the yap. 3 of 4 took and we had more weeping willows within no time. Will this work for a rhodedendron?
Answers: Rhododendrons can be "layered". Take a branch near the ground, trademark a small cut about 1/2 inch long along the stem roughly halfway through, place a clash in the split to preserve it open. Bury the cut member in the soil and weigh down to stop it springing rear up, or pin it down with stiff line. Can take a few months, but once roots form, the small barnch can be cut right past its sell-by date the mother plant and potted up or planted out.
They grow from cuttings, but hard to bring back to form roots without bottom grill. Best to take cuttings of partly hardened wood, trim off adjectives leaves except the couple at the top. Dip cut end within hormone rooting powder/ liquid, and put a few within a pot with a mixture of 1/2 river sand and 1/2 peat moss. Cover pot beside plastic bag to save in humidity, and place within a warm spot out of direct sunlight. If you can sit the pot on a melt surface it makes roots come promptly.
Not the easiest things to grow from cuttings, not like willows etc
