im thinking of puttin bamboo on one side of my house around 30ft away for shade from the mid-day sun but a friend of mine told me that it draws alot of birds and insects

Answers:    There is no problem with insects or birds but here is a problem with rattan. Please don't plant...you will be so sorry. Bamboo is one of the plants heading the list of most invasive plants contained by this country. It is beginning to be as unpromising as purple loosestrife. Bamboo spreads wildly and once you plant rattan, you will have it everywhere. It will engulf your property and verbs to the neighbor, etc etc. You might want to look up invasive plants on the US Department of Agriculture's website.
