Is in that rattan contained by Maine or anywhere surrounded by the U.S?

Depending on the rattan. I live in upstate NY and the bamboo we hold all over is extremely invasive and incredibly hard to find rid of. you don't really want to plant bamboo. You'll be sorry if you do...it take over. Try keeping a lucky bamboo plant inside...
Yes there is rattan all across the US. Many species are available through nurseries and bamboo specialists. None of it is original.

There are two main categories of wicker:

Running bamboo is invasive and is the kind everybody is other complaining about. It self-propagates by sending out its roots long distances and sprouting new culms (stalks) from root nodes. It is not as impossible to treaty with as most people assume and can be controlled next to proper landscaping practices. Controlling it ,while possible, is not always effortless.

Clumping bamboo is not invasive. It multiplies by sending roots out very short distances for the mother plant and creating a foreign culm. It therefore looks like a "clump" of wicker. Different varieties spread the "clump" to different sizes.

There are different varieties of respectively type - many more in the clumping type - of different colors, diameters, palm leaf type, and heights from 6" to 50 feet.

"Lucky bamboo" is not a rattan at all , but a tropical foliage plant known as Dracaena sanderiana.
Answers:    First off to all those that own posted about bamboo mortal invasive, it certainly can be IF you plant the wrong type of bamboo! These typically start next to the word "Phyllostachys" and are aggressive runners that should be only planted if you have acres of lands that you want to cover in a bamboo forest to sustain save the world (bamboo sequesters 4x more CO2 from the atmosphere per acre than and acre of hardwood trees).

Now you ask if there is rattan in Maine? I can;t recall seeing any on the few times I've visit, but I'm sure there some that could be grown there! I'd try New England Bamboo. They're base out of Massachusetts and their website is http://www.newengbamboo.com . I'm sure they can answer your questions better about what may or may not grow contained by Maine.

I grow and propagate numerous types of bamboo and tropical plants. Check out my pics at http://www.gator-ventures.com/bamboo
Yes but it is the invasive unwanted type.
