I missed the early Spring fertilizing for several new shrubs planted this Fall (Zone 7). Any products you resembling to use, and how often?
Let it jump for this year. Knockout Rose is a pretty tough rose. Wait tell next spring and you will be fine. Deadhead any roses that bloom and you should get hold of plenty of blooms. roses can be fed every 6 wks use rose flower care containing a sysytemic insecticide
We fertilize between April and August (two A months for my simple brain), stopping by August 31st. So it's up to you. Just don't try to make up the difference in missing the spring nurture, just feed commonplace amount. Of course in heat of summer product doubly sure the soil is moist before fertilizing as water okay again after. As long as a rose is growing and blooming it's not a bad time to fertilize. You'd have to work not easy to over-fertilize a rose. I give my roses half-strength Miracle Gro tomato food (yes, tomato food because I like the NPK ratio) once a month. They look great.
Answers: I like granulated slow release bloom food... (higher middle number, approaching 5-10-5.)not after September. in zone 7, that is.started using it when it come with the Flower Carpet roses and did them good. tender three times... early spring before bloom, mid HOT summer when they pocket a rest and late Aug to carry them thru the slump bloom..
