I have 137sqm land to pave. I extremity up have brick that enough to pave 159sqm due to copious broken brick (80+ brick broken)during the compacting process. The supplier told me this is normal as i must allow 5% breakage. However i suspect that is not the true origin. I believe the supplier is giving me a faulty product. I even use my bare appendage to break a couple bricks. Bear in mind that they are 50mm thick brick.
All they can present is give me more brick to replace the current broken brick. However i believe there will be more brick broken after few months latter. So, what can i do here? Can anyone give me some light here? Thanking within advance.
Answers: Stones and concrete/stone/pavers do break! Logic: pavers sometimes have to be cut to fit a size space when making designs . 5% breakages sounds almost right .

Chipping and breakage
Some minor chipping and breakage can occur during the delivery, sour loading and laying of pavers. It is recommended that this product be used for cuts and infills. This should not exceed 5% of the completed project.

Five percent breakage is not unreasonable, however, if you can break a 2 inch brick with your appendage it is an inferior product or you are Chuck Norris. It's possible there were that heaps defective brick in the lot. Why don't you check with your local consumer's bureau or previous customers nearly the past performance and reputation of the supplier?
