We are in a long drought and it is raining but it will not ending long. Do you know of anyway to help trademark the moist from the rain final longer. I have put some rocks within the terrece to slow the water so it can sink into the soil instead of running rotten, the ground is very intricate.
Yes, stop monoculturnig.
It depends on how much farmland you are talking going on for. Our garden did quite powerfully this summer and fall surrounded by spite of the drought. A layer of mess and a layer of straw help hold the moisture in the soil.
I hold heard of others that enjoy ran piping from their downspouts on their gutters and run underground piping next to holes in it throughout here yards... as you would expect this requires quite a bit of work.
We own areas around the yard where on earth bits of straw were vanished when we were mulching the garden and those areas seem to help hold moisture contained by the soil. Hope some of this helps.
Answers: I use a lot of mulch on my fruit farm. This was especially far-reaching during this drought ridden growing season. You can use natural mulch such as straw and leaves (stay away from hay, it tend to be weedy) or you can use man made mulches such as IRT plastic, landscaping mulch etc.. Either thoughtful will hold the water within the soil.
