Is nearby an environmentally friendly substitute for silk flowers? Several loved ones are buried in distant cemetery and I cannot...
Several loved ones are buried in distant cemetery and I cannot go nearby to change out fresh flowers on their graves; even so silk flowers have to be thrown surrounded by landfills when they get hoary. These cemeteries do not allow flowers or shrubs to be planted, because it get in the road of the lawnmowing.
Are there any alternatives?
Answers: Is this one of those cemetery that has a built contained by narrow jug for flowers? Try putting one of those long narrow birdseed poles and tie some raffia or dried flowers to them. This road you decorate and also nurture the birds. There is nothing departed but a wooden stick when all the pip is eaten away.
If the human being was a tangible animal lover ( as my parents were) this would be something that the deceased could hold appreciated.
I found a finch/songbird block that fits perfectly into the metal pitcher on my parents grave. They fed the birds at their home every year and loved watching them.
Jews also have a custom of placing a small stone on a grave when we own visited. I try to find a smooth or attractive small stone to place in attendance, too.
EDIT: You can also make your own ornate environmentally friendly bird feeder out of a large pine cone, peanut butter, bird kernel and raffia tied into a bow, tying the feeder to the vase or maybe a bouquet of dried flowers.
put peanut butter into each "petal" of the immense open pine cone and next drop it into a bag full of bird nut and shake..
unfortunately..sometimes ants and insects also find these treats strong...
we have have to remove them and then treat around the grave near fire ant killer in the past..that poses another problem..However, the ants aren't there presently at least for a while and the birds are stern to enjoying the thistle and core on a stick.
I must admit that I have put our first feeder attached to SILK roses..not thinking about the environment next to this really.
Plastic flowers can be very believable looking and beautiful. They could be see as environmentally friendly if you consider that they are reusable; swich them out for holidays and such and them use them again for the same holiday the subsequent year. If you need to only just leave them near for a long time, they don't degenerate quickly like silk flowers. And if you shift them and don't particularly want to keep hold of the old ones you're replacing, you can other put them on a gravesite that has no flowers.
