I hate to destroy things :(
Slugs & snails can invade just roughly speaking any deterrant however one thing I saw done contained by a TV show was the individual went to their home repair store and purchased what is call Roof Flashing. This is a galvanized metal which within this case be 6" wide and surrounded by a roll of 50'.
They took and cleared out a path what looked to be give or take a few as wide as 8" and afterwards drove the flashing into the ground at about a 60 deg. angle facing away from the nouns to be protected.
The theory is the snails first won't approaching the hot metal plus the angle is difficult to attach to. Then you have a weed barrage and a sheild for the weed eater from damaging protected plants.
I visit a snail farm contained by the Maredsou region of Belgium last summer. They have raised bed frames to keep the snails within. They used a soap on the inside rim of the frames that had the consistency of fasten wax that didn't hurt them but it was also durable surrounded by the sun and occasional summer rain.
I asked the member of staff about it but he couldn't autograph the product. But it was said to be non-lethal.
Hope this help.
Answers: bugs no, but I've heard that if you put pine yelp mulch around the garden it will keep the slugs out. Apparently the don't similar to the feel of it or something.
Yes, I basically read about this. Get 35 ml. motion picture canisters, poke holes through them. drill small hole contained by bottom of canister and pry a stick or dowel through hole. fill up canister with chopped up Irish spring soap. stick the dowel near canister around your hostas. They don't like the smell.
