Answers: Definitely a perennial. Anything with a bulb (or corm more specifically surrounded by this case) will come back every year unless a squirrel makes of near it or some other natural disaster interferes. The plant uses the "bulb" to store tons of energy to survive the winter and punch out every spring even bigger. Once they achieve big enough you can even dig them up and separate smaller bulbs from the bigger ones after they've gone dormant near little or no damage to the plant.
