If something is biodegradable and its put into a plastic rucksack that isn't biodegradable.? will the inside contents of the bag be able to compost?
will the inside contents of the bag be able to compost?
Answers: As long as it get hot from the sun. or Bacteria (leaf mold, compost etc ) is added to generate an aerobic activity.
They will eventually rot to the degree the heat and air inside the bag allows. If the case is unsealed or get pierced like they do at the landfill, the contents will eventually break down. I toss the plastic lots with any rotten vegies from the refrigerator into my compost bin - all I do is shred the top open a little or pilfer the rubber band off it if I closed it that course. Then a few weeks later, when I go out to turn the compost pile a little, I fish out the bags and merely turn them out so the partly composted contents get within the heap and the plastic bag can after be placed in the trash bin outdoors. It can still stink a little, afterwards, but often I find the plastic bag next and the things from the compost heap have done their work - the stuff inside lately looks like dirt. LOL
