Answers: Comes in cardboard boxing-the roots wrapped contained by plastic and a little straw mulch around the roots to keep hold of them moist. Looks weird-but follow the directions and plant as soon as you get. I enjoy a redbud tree from Gurney's that is in the region of 10 years old very soon. My husband laughed when we get it-I don't hear any scoffs now.
Most adjectives trees are shipped bare root. That technique the roots have no dirt on them. Sometimes purely a little raining mulch to keep them moist until you find them planted. Usually they are dormant when they ship. They are a bit of a risk but they usually stand good for them. Read the fine print within the catalog or on line.
