If a tree falls surrounded by a forest does anyone hear it?
If they're close enough they will hear it unless they're deaf or below it. When walking in a forest it's always a suitable idea to look up often. Large deceased branches are called 'widow makers' by foresters. More people are kill by falling branches than lightening. If there is anyone in the forest when it falls. duh!
This isn't exactly a garden question..and so i have a non garden response..
a Buddist dictum:
Before we study Zen, the mountains are mountains and the rivers are rivers. While we are studying Zen, however, the mountains are no longer mountains and the rivers are no longer rivers. But then, when our study of Zen is completed, the mountains are once again mountains and the rivers once again rivers.
