Answers:    You could but if you use dirt from your garden you will want to make the addition of peat moss or a little compost so the soil will not compact surrounded by the pot. "It needs to be capable of drain."
It would be best to get a case of potting soil like a miracle grow soil. The soil is sterile and the plants will do powerfully.
