The family like things like carrot, onion, potatoes, cukes, corn... what will grow well next to our cold nights but relatively nice days? Any abet would be appreciated! We don't have profusely of room for a garden but are trying to help frustrate major food price increases, plus we used to close to to garden!!

Thanks :)
Answers:    How cold are your nights? There are abundantly of veggies that can thrive on cold nights but nice days. If you don't gain really cold, as in have frosts or freezes, then you can probably grow pretty much most of what you are looking to do.

Tender crops, approaching corn, squash, cukes & melons can normally run cold down to near freezing, but would have need of protection from intense cold and would be harder to grow. As long as it doesn't freeze or frost you could probably grow these all winter, too, or could do so next to something as simple as a sheet tossed over your tender plants.

Potatoes, beets, garlic, parsnips, carrots, swiss chard, lettuce, peas, cabbage, leeks, radish, turnips, swedes and heaps others are all competent to be grown and either winter sown or harvest.
your winter is our summer here in auckland n.z., so near the cold night i would step for the brassicas, broccoli, cabb. s/ beet to start off, beside also parsnips . good luck
