I hold getting tiny little worm approaching things contained by my houseplants soil? can anyone tell me what they are and if i own...
can anyone tell me what they are and if i own to get rid, its topical compost thats in them, so i dont know how they get there, unless they be in the compost
My guess is that they are safe gnat-like fliy grubs that often thrive surrounded by potting soils. They don't harm your plants, but will be copious in soils that stay drizzly - I frequently get them.
One method of control of these short lived pests is to allow the soil to dry out somewhat, back watering again, as this disrupts their breeding cycle. Otherwise, a spray, such as insecticidal soap, will kill them, if/when they fully developed into flies - just don't spray within bright light, as this can result surrounded by scorched leaves on your plants.
Hope this help. Good luck! Rob
What you're experiencing is "Fungus-gnat larvae" in your soil. They tend to thrive surrounded by wet soil conditions and when populations become big, they will begin to nurture on roots which then become adjectives to soil-borne diseases. Adults lay their eggs into wets soils and fly around your home.
You can slaughter the larvae by count a few drops of dishsoap into 16 ounces of water and afterwards soak the soil containing the larvae. The soap will create small cracks on the outer portion of their skin and they'll eventually die.
Also... add on about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of sand to the top of your soils. This will create a boundary marker so adults can't lay their eggs directly into the wet soil. Eventually, their reproductive cycle will be broken and you shouldn't own a problem.
Hope this information helps solve your problem. GOOD LUCK!

They drink plant roots before flying sour. They need to be removed otherwises total plant will wilt as no roots left
Yes, they are probably in the compost.
Try using a regular potting soil mix instead of compost.
Answers: I own lost quite a few houseplant to these pests. I own tried different concoctions without nouns. The only method that have been successful to me is to re pot the plant removing as much of the compost as possible to acquire rid of these mini maggots. Do immediately otherwise they will take out your plant.
