I own timers outside for my garden lights and they are infested near ants. Is this commonplace? Pls insist on?

Yes,,,, believe it or not, the ants are there for the high temperature of the electrical wires. They infested my pool pump and the mound caused the pump to over roast and burn out. Treat the area around the timer and spray the outsides. That should nick care of the problem.

D.E. - (diatomateous earth) is a wonderful powder that deters any kind of crawly entry and is completely natural.
I use it around my hot tub to maintain away ants who like to settle surrounded by under the wooden frame and around the electrical boxes.

You can buy it at any garden store within small boxes or from the pool supply store in ample bags (cheaper by the pound!)
As next to all bloodbath agents, please use selectively, so as not to kill any more creatures than indispensable.

Answers:    dont let them stay surrounded by there or they can short out the electrical system destroying the timer just spray some insecticide surrounded by there and murder them.
