You could plant: Siberian, German, Louisiana and Japanese Iris, Helleborus (for the earliest blooms in the garden!), azalea, rhododendron. Oak branch hydrangea will give you three season interest and it is a prolific bloomer. The flower pannicles stay on the plant, turning chocolate brown during the winter, and the yelp peels, count interest to your winter landscape. These plants should carry you started.
